From 1961-1964, instrumental surf music was at the top of SoCal radio playlists, coming of age alongside the burgeoning surf culture, defining a time. Although modern surf music occupies many variations of the “surf” sound, The Deweys carry on the original vibe from that heyday. Their original compositions bring audiences high energy and sonic punch in a mesmerizing, melodic style of their own. The Deweys, hailing from Orange County, CA (where it all started) is the brainchild of former Torquays guitarist Armin Brown and his Fender Jaguar. Veteran surf guitarist Jeff McDonald compliments and shines with his Jazzmaster. Bassist David Carey and drummer John Kelley combine to keep it tight and driving, delivering performances that “reverb”-erate with audiences.
